The Jewish Community of Birmingham, Alabama, is participating in a first-of-its-kind community-wide version of our Welcoming Communities Project. SOJOURN’s Welcoming Communities Project aims to help regional synagogues, schools, and agencies become welcoming places for GSD (Gender and Sexually Diverse) Jews in both theory and practice. Over the course of about 10 months, representatives from Birmingham's Jewish Community gather together to learn, discuss, debate, and create a plan of action to help make all of their city's Jewish agencies more welcoming.
Members of the task force will share thoughts periodically here to keep the conversation going online. Please feel free to join in with comments and questions!
